A gift for my parents on their anniversary. Inspiration for the title: the fabric reminded me of a figure (something that happens a lot in my still lifes), framed in a sort of medieval arch niche. The figure suggested by the fabric seemed kind of regal to me, and reminds me of a young woman -- hence "Damsel" - thinking of princesses in distress I suppose...

Damsel by *sylvan has a frilly delicacy and simple elegance that usually takes more than a few swatches of fabric to convey, indicating there's some talent here worth looking into. (Featured by `oedalis)
This is really great framing, and such an amazing orange......so vibrant and rich.
I am glad you did these fabric paintings. I'm certain that I'll be referencing them for my fashion designs(time to start the sketches for the college portfolio)----I've always had issues with painting/drawing fabric....so this is good to have on hand
I THOUGHT THIS WAS A PHOTOGRAPH! Whoa!! Very nice tones and brushstrokes and detail and shading, everything, fantastic. So simple yet it's absolutely beautiful, very good present

This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
